So Here’s My Story

I learned to appreciate the wonders of nature from an early age. As a child, our family took a camping vacation every summer to a different national park each with its own unique beauty. This instilled in me the importance of being a good steward of our planet.

I’ve been involved in environmental causes all my life, but since retiring, I have become more involved in sustainability issues. I have volunteered for several years on my city’s Sustainability Advisory Board. I also created a program on “the plastic problem” that I have presented to numerous organizations around the Kansas City area.

In my former life I was a speech/language pathologist, realtor, and entrepreneur. Now that I’m retired, some of my favorite activites are playing bridge, learning Spanish, volunteering with several organizations including Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care, sustainability groups, and animal welfare organizations. I believe we can all give back at some level even if it’s just a few bucks or a few hours a year.

Even at my age, I’m a work in progress. I’m still learning, growing, and evolving. My greatest passion right now is to motivate others to actively save this “third planet from the sun”.

I currently live in Leawood, Kansas with my husband, Fred, and my dog, Twinkie.
