Now, this is scary! I recently read an article from The Hill published on March 25, 2022. Scientists analyzed the blood from 22 healthy volunteers and found that 80% of the subjects had a quantifiable mass of plastic particles in their blood. The types of plastic ranged from the type found in beverage bottles, the type found in food packaging, and the type found in plastic bags. These particles are consumed through food, water, and breathing. Although plastic particles have previously been found in the feces of babies and adults, this is the first time they were discovered in human blood. Scientists say it is concerning and definitely needs further study. All the more reason to reduce our use of unncecessary plastic.
